PLANT STEM CELLS: SCIENCE vs. HYPE

The most common misconception about skin care containing plant stem cell is that these products contain living plant stem cells that interact with our own skin stem cells to increase cells growth rate and, as a result, delaying the cells’ aging process. 

It is impossible to incorporate living stem cells into skin creams for the simple reason that the cells will degenerate and die. 

Plant stem cells products contain bioactive ingredients (peptides and enzymes) extracted from plant stem cells and a complex matrix of ingredients found in plant stem cells such as salts, acids, phenols, sugars, lipids, proteins and other compounds that are important in protecting and maintaining our skin’s own epigenetic properties and help provide a healthy microenvironment for the skin stem cells so that they can effectively repair and produce new epidermal skin cells.
