TANTRIC BUDDHISM: ACTIVE MEDITATION FOR LONGEVITY |
A practioner also performs vigorous physical exercise called the “Beb Thrikor” or the “Leaping Buddha” posture where, while seated in a lotus position, he would leap back and forth from one meditation cushion to another for as long as he could. Tsa Lung – the art of mental healing is also practiced along with this demanding daily regime.
It is common today to encounter elderly Bhutanese in their 80’s and 90’s walking briskly around a temple or a stupa, carrying their prayer beads and reciting Tselha Namsum’s mantra for longevity, “Om Vajara Guru Padma Siddhi Hung”.
